Double your donation: donor matchfunded £500

£3,412 has been raised from 110 donors.

We are raising money to sustain and enhance the operations of UYWAFC (University of York Women's Football Club), aiming to cover travel expenses, strengthen existing teams, and potentially establish a third team. This funding is crucial not only for competitive success but also for promoting inclusivity, unity, and improving the physical and mental well-being of our students through regular training sessions and access to better facilities. Ultimately, supporting our club means investing in the holistic development and happiness of our students, fostering a positive campus culture and pride within our community.

Our Story

UYWAFC stands as more than just a football team; it's a vibrant community built on values that transcend the sport itself. Embracing a familial ethos, we've weathered challenging seasons to finally taste the success we've worked tirelessly for. Our determination has borne fruit, with our second team clinching promotion in the Northern 5B league and our first team poised for glory in the Northern 2B league title race.

Last season's victories, including a 3-0 triumph for our first team and a 5-1 win for our development squad in Roses, underscore our commitment to excellence. This success is not a solitary achievement but a testament to the growing interest in our club among university women, buoyed by increased funding.

Despite our progress, sustaining this momentum requires your support. The demand for women's football at our university has surged, prompting us to establish a second competitive team. However, to continue expanding and nurturing talent, we need vital financial backing.

The surge in interest reflects the broader growth of women's football, inspiring scores of aspiring players. Yet, we face the unfortunate reality of having to turn away many due to limited resources. With your contribution, we can ensure that every aspiring footballer has the opportunity to shine on the pitch.

Our aim is to welcome as many enthusiasts as possible, but escalating membership fees pose a barrier to participation. Your donations will enable us to keep our doors open to all, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant footballing community.

Your generosity can make a tangible difference in supporting our club's growth and empowering women in sports. We sincerely appreciate any donations you can offer to help us continue our journey towards success.

Where will the money go?

The allocation of funds for UYWAFC (University of York Women's Football Club) holds significant importance in sustaining and enhancing our operations. This year, a substantial portion of our budget, amounting to £4000, has been earmarked for covering travel expenses, particularly for coach transportation to away games. Such costs are essential for ensuring our teams can compete effectively in various locations.

Additionally, we aim to channel increased funding towards our existing second team and potentially establish a third team. Unfortunately, the 2s league faced premature termination last season due to unforeseen dropouts and a lack of participating teams. With greater financial support, we can fortify our teams' participation in leagues and competitions, enhancing their competitive edge.

Investing in coaching staff is another priority for us. Securing the services of dedicated coaches, ideally one per team, is crucial for refining players' skills, tactics, and overall performance. However, this requires adequate funding to compensate coaches for their expertise and commitment.

Furthermore, the desire to expand our teams has been hampered by financial constraints. Despite the potential to form a third team or development squad last year, insufficient funding prevented us from realising this ambition to a satisfactory standard. With your contributions, we can overcome this hurdle and provide more opportunities for players to develop and excel.

In summary, your support will directly impact various aspects of our club, from covering travel expenses and strengthening existing teams to hiring coaches and expanding our squad. By investing in UYWAFC, you're not just supporting a football club; you're investing in the growth, development, and success of women's football at our university.

Why is this so important?

Increased funding for UYWAFC (University of York Women's Football Club) will have a profound impact on our students' well-being and success. It will enable us to provide access to our club for more students, promoting inclusivity and unity. With better coaching and facilities, we can enhance physical fitness and mental health through regular training sessions. Additionally, investing in equipment and resources will boost our competitiveness in competitions, fostering a positive campus culture and pride within our community.

Ultimately, supporting our club means investing in the holistic development and happiness of our students.
