It is a chance for 15 sports clubs at York to have the support of the University of York community, wherever they are in the world, to help increase opportunities and improve access for all. Every gift counts, from every person.

Why get involved?

In short, the York Sport Union Challenge Week gives you the opportunity to make a lasting difference to students at York, both current and future.

How do I get involved?

All you have to do is give! Every gift counts, no matter how big or small. You can also share your support on social media using #YorkChallengeWeek or by tagging us @uoyalumni, and you can also share your support with classmates, friends, family and colleagues to get them involved too.

Where will the funds go?

You choose! We’ve got 15 sports clubs to choose from. Each club has a page on the York Sport Union Challenge Week website explaining how exactly they plan to use any donations.

If you would prefer to give to another area of the University, email us at giving@york.ac.ukso that we can best direct you to an area that you may be interested in supporting.

Wherever you choose to give, it’s your participation that matters most.

Can anyone participate in the York Sport Union Challenge Week?

Absolutely! Support from everyone in the University of York community and beyond counts on this day, whoever you are, wherever you are in the world.

I’m not big on social media, so how else can I share?

The first thing you can do is to email, text, video call or phone your classmates to spread the word and encourage them to give, too - maybe you can make a group gift!

You can also get in touch with us at yustart@york.ac.uk to let us know how and why you’re taking part - we’d love to share your words (and any pictures or videos you’d like to share with us) on our social media channels.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments through the York Sport Union Challenge Week website will be securely processed by Stripe. Any gifts through our usual online giving channels are also processed securely.

There is a reference on my bank account to 'Hubbub.net', is this normal and how are they affiliated to the University of York?

Hubbub.net is part of Sponsorcraft – the site provider for the University of York’s giving day software. To process donations via the site, Hubbub uses an API integration to connect to our payment gateway, Stripe. At the time of making your gift, Stripe will verify your card for processing by placing a £0.00 transaction on your account with the reference 'Hubbub.net'. Card authentication 'mock-chargers' are used widely across the banking industry to verify that accounts are genuine, while also protecting you and your account against fraud. If you have further questions please contact a member of our team via yustart@york.ac.uk.

Is there another way to donate during the York Sport Union Challenge Week, other than online??

Yes, if you’re interested in other ways that you can give, please email yustart@york.ac.uk or call +44 (0)01904 324 467 and we’ll be more than happy to help you make your gift.
