Ultimate Frisbee

Double your donation: donor matchfunded £350

£1,769 has been raised from 54 donors.

We are more than just a sports club; we are a community that has fought together to qualify three teams for Nationals this year. We are raising £3000 to fund professional coaching, performance analysis equipment, and cost subsidies, ensuring no player misses out on representing York due to financial barriers.

Our Story

We are York Uni Ultimate! Since the late 1990s, we have grown from a small group of enthusiasts into a high-performing club that hosts Yindoors, one of the largest indoor tournaments in Northern England. Beyond the scores and trophies, Ultimate is more than a competitive sport; it is where many students find their closest friends, develop their confidence, and feel part of a community that supports them throughout their time at university.

While we are incredibly proud that our Women’s, Open, and Co-ed teams all qualified for Nationals this year, we are facing significant resource hurdles. Training is currently led entirely by student captains, and rising travel and membership costs are creating barriers that risk leaving talented players behind. We are embarking on this Challenge Week to inspire the support needed to keep our club inclusive, accessible, and successful.

Your support means the world to us. Whether it is a small contribution or sharing our story, we are deeply grateful for any donation that helps ensure our players can continue to compete, grow, and belong. Thank you for being part of our journey.

Where will the money go?

Our overall goal for this week is to reach £3000

First priority: Coaching funds (£1500)

Second priority: Accessibility funds (£1000)

Third priority: VEO camera equipment (£500)

While our ultimate ambition is to reach our full target, our immediate priority is to secure £2000 to secure professional coaching for the upcoming season and alleviate the cost pressures students are currently facing.

Why is this so important?

Ultimate is more than a competitive sport. It is the place where students find their lifelong friends, build the confidence to stand tall, and finally feel part of something bigger than themselves.

With your generous support, we can ensure that this remains a place where every student can find their footing. Your gift isn't just funding a sports club; it’s helping us look after the people behind the kits:

  • A Family from Day One: Starting university can be a lonely, uphill climb. We provide a "home-on-arrival" for first-year students, giving them a sense of belonging that turns those first few scary weeks into a confident new beginning.
  • A Real Outlet for Mental Health: When the pressure of exams feels like too much, the field is where that stress finally disappears. For many of us, this team is a vital mental health lifeline, a place where you’re supported by people who truly have your back.
  • Keeping Our Players Safe: Passion shouldn't lead to injury. We use our funds to provide expert coaching focused on safe movement and proper technique, ensuring our athletes are cared for and can stay active in the long run.
  • An Open Door for Everyone: No one should have to walk away from their friends because they can’t afford the travel or the gear. We are committed to full accessibility, making sure students from lower-income backgrounds have the same seat at the table as everyone else.

The Challenges!

Below are some of the challenges we will complete as part of the week:

  • 24 Hour “Throw-a-ton”
  • Huck and Hike (the higher the amount we reach, the greater the difficulty of the hike)
  • Throwing the distance between York and Lancaster, Roses are White!
  • Huck through the Solar System trail on campus
  • ‘Frisbication’ of different sports + sports swap
  • Disc Dinners (different amounts reached, different food items)
